Participating in a virtual reality workshop

The other day I had the opportunity to participate in some introductory workshops on virtual reality and extended reality given by the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin).
In addition to formal computer studies, they research and bring technology closer to artists who need or want to experiment with new technologies.

The Aurora School for Artists supports artists and people in the creative industries in the development of a project or with further studies.

It was very interesting to learn about technologies that may be more affordable in the future. I was also able to live a virtual reality experience directly, as they were organized to bring the glasses to the participants‘ homes. We saw a project of about 7mn called Here we are – A touring torture (2018) from the Swan collective.

We were also able to meet some artists like Carly Lave (Golem Labor) who have already been researching and developing projects in these fields, bringing together various disciplines such as dance/performance and virtual reality.

XR_Unites is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Reinforcing Innovation Potential in Culture II program, with the kind support of the Senate Department of Culture and Europe.
