The endless possibilities of colors
Have you ever experienced this? You begin a series with a certain idea in mind, but as you go along, everything seems to take a different direction. I think that’s how life really works.
My initial idea was to explore the possibilities of the color green, and I was partly inspired by a still life painting by the artist Jean Souverbie, whose color combination I adore.
Some art schools used to teach students by having them copy the works of other artists in museums, but maybe some of them struggled to create their own original pieces later on. For me, it’s very hard to copy someone and replicate 100% the colors they used in a painting. Even trying to follow the same palette as this painting for my series has been challenging for me.
But I don’t feel frustrated for not getting the exact match. Instead, I see this exercise as an opportunity to think about the endless ways of doing things and the countless color combinations that exist. I’m drawn to different paths that emerge along the way, and I enjoy exploring and experimenting with them.
Las posibilidades infinitas de los colores
No les ha pasado que empiezan una serie con una idea, y en el camino, todo parece irse por otro? Pues creo que en realidad así es la vida.
Yo partí con la idea de explorar las posibilidades del color verde, y una parte de la inspiración inicial viene también de un cuadro de una naturaleza muerta del artista Jean Souverbie, la cual me encanta la combinación de colores.
En el pasado muchas escuelas de arte enseñaban a los estudiantes copiando obras de otros artistas en los museos y quizás algunos después no sabían hacer sus propias creaciones, lo cierto es que me parece súper difícil copiar a alguien e imitar al 100% los colores que usó en una pintura.
Incluso imitar la gama de este cuadro para mi serie se me ha hecho súper difícil.
Todo esto para decir, que partí con esta inspiración y han ido salido otras combinaciones de colores, que me seducen y me hacen ir por esos caminos, explorar y probar diferentes cosas.
No me siento frustrada por no lograr la gama exacta, pero entiendo que este ejercicio me está haciendo pensar en las posibilidades infinitas que hay de hacer las cosas y las posibilidades infinitas de combinaciones de colores.
